I gave this book five stars because Winget is such a refreshing and, yes, fun read, especially in a nation plagued by the ever popular "everybody's a victim" and "it's never my fault" mentalities. Early in the book Winget demolishes many of the standard excuses people use as to why they are broke. His style is rude and abrasive, but frankly many people need a wake up from the "woe is me" molly-coddling thought patterns they have settled into. Life was never meant to be a walk through the garden and Winget makes that plain.
The core advice is fairly standard "work harder and spend less", but the text is spiced by numerous (often humerous) examples from his A&E show. Of course, the advice is standard because, despite the fact that it works, many people lack the discipline to follow it.
Highly recommended and entertaining reading even if you are not broke yourself.
This book is a life and money saver! I love this book. I'm making new decisions that have saved me so much money. I'm able to feel good about the things I chose to spend my money on. Larry Winget will get in your face and get you motivated! I recommend this book to everyone! Thanks Larry for helping me get a hold of my finances!
