This CD doesn't have as much variation as Babylon did, but they manage to fit a lot of different sounds into each song. They all sound better than ever and put a lot of bands to shame. These guys make awesome songs that don't sound derivative of other groups, and it's really a pleasure to listen to. Recommended for Babylon fans and open-minded rock fans. Skindred is easily one of the most underrated and overlooked bands out there today.
This was a product under 'amazon recommends' against Hed (PE)'s back to base X. That record is the best in My opinion by that band since their earlier stuff, clever, diverse, strong etc... An album I really enjoy from a band who's stuff I either love or leave.
But this is something else. Just brilliant. It's got the energy of early Hed PE and early Incubus, it's got the power and passion of Bad Brains, complete lack of fear ala Fishbone and it's extremely well done.
It's a hard rocking album with a Rasta-rap style and is probably one of the best rock/rap(ish) cross overs there is.
Key tracks on this for me are State of Emergency, Spit out the Poison and the incredible Cause ah Riot: I think only Fishbone and Slipknot from memory have managed chaos as well as Skindred in a song as that one there.
