Hairspray (Full-Screen Edition)
Date undefinedThis ain't exactly my cup of tea, but I can enjoy movies that aren't my normal fare. We should all be open minded and try new things. Take a walk on the wild side, you know what I mean?? But anyway, if you enjoyed HAIRSPRAY you should definitely check out John Water's film version. The original film had Sonny Bono, Debbie Harry, and Ricki Lake in it. I've seen most of this one and I saw Water's version years ago. Waters is a talented cat. By the way, if you like HAIRSPRAY and are one of those unfortunate souls out there that have not experienced other classic comedies by John Waters PINK FLAMINGOS comes highly recommended. It's just good light entertainment for the family to enjoy.

Date undefinedI am so glad that I spent the extra dollars in buying this version instead of just the movie by itself. It comes with great extras!!! Like three featurettes that describe the story of the first movie, the musical and every little detail of the movie musical!!! And it comes with great features as extended looks and behind the scenes goodies of all of the major scenes from the movie!!! It was just wonderful!!!

Date undefinedThe movie is energetic, entertaining, funny, and has a great anti-prejudice theme.
People are all not the same-those with darker skin are not inferior, or the fact that all women aren't a size 6, yet can be beautiful, is nicely brought out in the movie's plot.
I liked everyone's performance in the film, but I think that John Travolta stole the show. Nikki Blonsky was terrific as an overweight, yet confident, teenager. Her energy, and the energy of the film, made this film so enjoyable.
In spite of any negatives anyone may say about John Travolta in drag, I think he was convincing and fun to watch. And I think the role was a risky venture for him that was worth doing.
I would watch this film again and again.
