I loved this band back in the early '80s and am glad to see they have gotten together for a DVD concert of most of their best songs. The musicianship is spot on and the band very tight. John Wetton still sounds great, even though he has lost his very highest notes. Carl Palmer performs an extremely inventive drum solo the likes of which I have never seen before. Steve Howe looks OLD, though he still has incredible chops. And Geoffrey Downes really fills up the sound. My 7-year-old son has even fallen in love with "Time Again." Great band, great DVD!
And, indeed, time has told us that Asia still can hold an audience captive....what an amazing DVD! I was a huge fan back in '82 and '83 and even though the line-up changed a bit throughout following the years, there is no version of Asia better than John Wetton, Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, and Carl Palmer. All are in prime form during this performance. A must have for ANY Asia fan!
Time flies. It's been 25 years from the sensational Asia in Asia tour in Tokyo. I was there last time, it was very nice stage, but John Wetton was not there. I was so disappointed about it. Now all original members are coming back. Yes, they got old (especially Steve Howe), but their sounds are still alive. Although some songs are arranged to acoustic version (The smile has left your eyes, Don't cry,...), their performance is totally high quality. Surprisingly, every song is performed by only four old boys, John, Steve, Jeff and Carl. No other musicians helped them. "Video killed the radio star" by Asia is so nice. If you were excited about "Heat of the moment" 25 years ago, must watch the DVD!
