Eddie & the Cruisers 2: Eddie Lives!

Date undefined

In a classic case of art imitating life, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band became known by many FM radio listeners as Eddie and the Cruisers, due to their near-perfect performing of the "New Jersey/Bruce Springsteen" sound on a 1983 movie soundtrack of the same name.

And while the band found mid-1980s success on the Cobra and Rocky IV movie soundtracks, they returned to familiar turf on this 1989 release, a sequel to the fictional account of a bar band and the mysterious disappearance of their leader as they were on the cusp of striking gold on the national stage.

But the soundtrack formula is in cruise control and fails to stay on track for an entire album. When the well runs dry on ideas, a concept based on imitation stalls miserably.

Thank You. I've looked all over for this movie for a long time. I really enjoyed the music and the scenery in it. When I looked on Amazon.Com you actually had the movie and it was a price I could afford. Next time I want to find a movie I'll look there.

Eddie and the Cruisers series is what the rock'n roll and its drama should be like. Sequel of the excellent 1983 rock'n roll drama EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS also is well-made drama linking the 60s legend and 80s together. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band who actually did the soundtrack made another great job on this.

Compared with the Eddie and the Cruisers One the music itself got closer to that of John Cafferty band rather than 60s classic blended first one.
Although there aren't any standout tracks just as Tender Years or On The Dark Side, the soundtrack is enjoyable though and through. My favorite track is OPEN ROAD which reminds me of pop side of BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.

Verdict: Solid work the keeps the rock legend alive
Rating: 83 out of 100
Recommended for: John Cafferty and Eddie and the Cruisers movies fans. Some fans of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger.
