It seemed like I waited forever for the second Rooney album to come out but I have to say it was worth the wait, cuz I do love those boys. I knew I would love it, as I am addicted (still) to the band's debut album from a few years ago. Full of sing songy choruses and some self depreciating lyrics, this group of young musicians constantly surprise me. They are so talented in a land full of some not so talented young people in the music business.
Every song is catchy, and not sugary syrupy silly, but actually intelligent. In fact the musicianship of Rooney always throws me for a loop because they are so good. There isn't a song I don't like on this CD and these days that's a hard thing to say. Best cuts: "Calling the World", "When Did Your Heart Go Missing" , "Love Me Or Leave Me"
I couldn't wait for this album to come out. It was finally released the day before my birthday (woo hoo, happy birthday to me!). This cd was absolutely worth the wait. There is not one bad song on here. I would check out Are You Afraid, Believe in Me, and Paralyzed. Here's hoping they continue in this direction on their next disc. I have gifted this cd to several people, and all of them have thanked me profusely after the fact.
Hadn't really heard anything from Rooney since their hit "I'm Shakin'" from about 4 years ago, but then they went on tour with the Jonas Brothers. In anticipation of the concert, I bought their latest cd. I was VERY impressed...from the title cut "Calling the World" to the very catchy and upbeat "When Did Your Heart Go Missing" to the almost-eerie "Are You Afraid?" I totally love this cd. And their live performance was even better. I say go for it. These guys are moving up fast. Take the ride with them!
